Most recently, my paintings reflect how structure can become a continuation and expansion of ideas. Colors can be used to create balance or harmony, destabilizing a work in order to create perceptual or spatial ambiguities, and a potential for color shift within a painting’s structure and metaphor. These forces create a necessary and important tension in the paintings. By using color in a more intuitive and subjective way, recent works have developed into more structural limitations (i.e. use of wood panels versus previous grid paintings on large canvas).
